Human Placenta For Beauty. Would You?
So just how far would you go for beauty's sake?
It was just recently that we've heard in the news here in PI, about the beauty pill that contains powderized organ or part of the fetus called human placenta (inunan in tagalog), said that was manufactured in China and sold in Korea. The day after I heard this, I was almost shocked to see the Korean cosmetic brand, Lioele, just opened at St. Francis Square (first-ever branch of Lioele in Manila, actually), selling a face cream and a beauty pill made from human placenta. I pulled up the flyer, with eyes wide open in disbelief, it says, "Nothing can replace human placenta."
The human placenta is an organ that connects the developing fetus to the uterine wall to allow nutrient uptake, waste elimination, and gas exchange via the mother's blood supply (from Wikipedia). If you try to Google it, you might be surprised, and it's not for the faint-hearted, by the way. You'll find that some people eat their placenta after birth, or make human placenta smoothies. There are even human placenta chefs!
That's no good news for me. Has the world gone this crazy? But that's just my humble opinion only, because for me, I say that is cannibalism already, and I don't want to support that.
For the record, I think some odd beauty regimens are actually fun to do and are worth giving a try, just like the fish foot spa, is that what it's called? But not his one . This human placenta thing is so over the top, gross, I should say.
How about you, what are your thoughts about it? Would you even try?

I think I would, as long as it's not really made out of babies! Human placenta extract, I believe has always been one of the basic ingredients of those beauty soaps that we use, hindi lang nila sinasabi of course. But this has been around for years, I was told that placenta is stored in big refs and sold to beauty companies.

No, that's a big misconception. Placenta in beauty soaps is actually from plant extracts :) This product I featured here is promoting the use of "human placenta" aka "inunan"
really? i never tried this product. does this product have fda seal?
Addendum: human placenta is NOT the commonly heard placenta which is of course originates in plants. And seemingly plant placenta is actually better. Check this <\link
I hope it is not like that of the fetus capsule. I won't try it honestly.

for food? no I would definitely not eat it. But as beauty products like cream why not as long as there is no fetus harmed; what I mean using the placenta after birth.
I am aware of the placenta soaps sold in the market made of plants and some from sheeps placenta. But I haven't heard of human placenta.
I also heard of fetus capsule from China and Korea too.
i've read about the human placenta but like you i won't eat it. it's not my thing.
i already read some article about it, cosmetic companies had been using this for years...they are just afraid to advertise that they are using this as ingredient; human placenta for decades are used for wrinkle reducer - maybe time is changing...they now advertise that they uses human placenta
wow. bago sa pandinig ko yan. as a beauty product muhok lang naman. kung kakainin, thats gross!

I am avid KB user siguro 3 months na hahaha, sneek peak mo nalng ako sa fb if epective sa akin?
as i heard this is really effective beauty soap but i haven't tried this one..
parang weird na placenta sya tapos food.. but my friends swear by it..
no I won't try it
What will they think of next in the name of beauty? Vanity!
definitely not! i will not try. its so weird and gross.eww!

i think i would give a try... placenta is believed to be the source of vitamins and minerals for the fetus while inside the womb. so it may also give us the essential vitamins and minerals for beautiful skin.
no i will not ever ever try it. lol :0 :)
Gross is the right term right there sis. I would probably be saying "eww...eww..." if I do get around to using that face cream. For the life of me, I wouldn't even touch that cream even if that can make me look like that model.
I know how you feel...it feels close to cannibalism or s.th.
People have survived this far without these placenta things, meaning, we don't need them.
It's from plant it's okay but from human? Shouldn't we be concerned? What if it becomes a popular trend and people would pay a lot of money to have it. They're killing animals for their parts. Let's not wait for them to start killing humans too.
Okay, maybe I'm going overboard but who knows what will happen someday.
gaaahhh.. this is gross.. just relieved to know it doesn't come from fetus :((
Nah, I'm giving this one a pass. I prefer accepting my skin color.
Hmmm... I'm not sure about this too. Hahahhaa!!!! Just thinking of it makes me sick. There are other beauty products that can make you look beautiful right?
KB is a good brand so no wonder there are more products being developed. Hoping to read more feedback about this one.
I've seen KB in watson's but did not pay attention to it as I am not a fan of creams or supplements for the skin except for vit c. But how and where in the world do they get human placenta for manufacturing?
i think some manufacturers have been using placenta in the past, I've seen them in soaps and facial creams. I'm just curious how the manufacturers can sustain the supply of the placenta in their products.

I think I won't patronize it, though not really a fan of other creams, but just thinking where it is made of, makes me shiver. I wonder what would be next.... gosh.. can't think of it.
super scared to try! i probably won't. it's too strange, though i have a penchant for strange things...
I have heard about this but I personally won't use it as I find it disgusting.
I heard of this placenta and I think if you will observe the hands of those practitioners (OBGYN) you'll find it that their hands are soft and smooth but that's according to what I have heard. I haven't asked any OB yet but perhaps if my wife will visit her OB again then maybe I will ask.
I do not think that I will use that soap or beauty product :-( It does not sound right, just my opinion.

I'm fine with what I am currently using. We might find this gross because it could be new to us. Like the more adventurous one, they find nothing wrong with using it. :)
I heard Victoria Beckham uses this as beauty regimen =)
It's the first time I heard about this. Wow!
madami na akong nababasa na weird beauty regimen especially those of hollywood stars. but personally, i'm not into this.
Yah, i heard the issue before, i will not use this product safety first =)
Is it safe? is it legal. I'm so sorry I'm so ignorant about this.
Safe ba yan? Sensitive kasi skin ko...never tried to use skin regimen.
if its in the bottle, smelling good far from blood stench, and not looking gooey, then i could use the cream or lotion. but to intake it is icky! not sure if i can do that even if its a pill already. youre right im thinking about cannibalism.
It's Madonna actually who uses human placenta face cream.
gross indeed and I don't think I will try this product ever.
Human placenta for beauty enhancement, first, sounds unsanitary and unhealthy. But when it is extracted from plants to produce "human placenta" then it sounds healthy and sanitary.
I've heard of placenta injections to make the skin look younger.
hmm maybe not now... but if there are more studies and proof of its effectivity, not bad then
If no babies and mothers were harmed in the harvesting of human placenta, there's probably nothing wrong in using them for beauty products. But for eating them, that's just too weird.
The eating part has grossed me out! I've given birth twice and the thought of eating something that came out from me is utterly disgusting. Ewww...
haven't heard of this yet. thanks for the info.
I think it is quite gross although natural.
http://pixiechronicle.blogspot.com/
i have heard so much about it but never tried it, they say it does work.
many would do almost anything to achieve youthful looks...let's just say i'm on the few ones...
This really is over the top. Grabe. Buti nalang im not that vain.
No, I wouldn't try it. I'm in agreement with you... over the top Gross!!!
Ewww, never. The human placenta wasn't made to be eaten.
For cosmetics, I think its alright. For consumption, ugh!
My first reaction after reading about people eating their placentas: yuck! They can be vain but not down to this point. :(
just like the fetus pill? I agree with you, this is kinda gross.... only overly vain people will adapt to this :)
I'm not surprised that it's manufactured in China. They'd eat anything there and I mean "anything".
That would be worse, killing human in exchange for placenta?
I will definitely not try this. I believe that the manufacturers of this product are trying to create a demand for their projects using shock marketing.
