Why I Ditched These Popular Shampoo Brands

If you're at my age, about twenty-ish or so, you probably have some issues with hairfall too. Me I suffered having hairfall since I was in college, and just thought it was just "normal" since I always had long hair. But these past 3 years, maybe also because of hair treatments, i.e. rebonding, coloring that we do once in a while, it was really terrifying at times, to see those many strands falling away during or after shower, I notice this happens especially when I use conditioners like Pantene or Cream Silk, actually, any popular drugstore brands you can see just about anywhere.

It was also true that I associated hairfall due to too much stress until..

Well, it came to a point that I don't want to use these brands anymore, and sorted to use some alternatives instead. I tried using an organic shampoo, thinking less chemicals would be beneficial. I used a shampoo from Human Nature, but sadly it didn't work for me. Maybe because I have colored hair.

Then I tried using an imported brand of shampoo but not necessarily expensive, like Clairol shampoo or V05 shampoo which you can buy in any SM Supermarkets. I use these shampoo like twice or thrice a week only, whenever I feel like my scalp gets too oily already and doesn't smell good. The reason why I don't want to use shampoo every wash is because it strips out the hair's natural oils and hair strands becomes rubbery, if you like. In fact when I use shampoo now, I just focus on the scalp, make sure I rinse it thoroughly. Now after shampooing, I use a conditioner that is an unconventional one. Since I find regular conditioners around are kind of harmful for my hair or for the scalp's sensitivity, probably because of high doses of chemicals on it, not to mention the too powerful scents they put in it, I tried using Watson's hair spa treatment as conditioner. It worked wonders for me.

It was now 3 or 4 months I'm doing this alternative hair care, I rarely get hairfall now, really very rarely, and I was very glad that my hair is also shinier, and looks healthier.

I hope you get something from my hair care experience. I think the beauty lesson is, don't hesitate to  try different things, experiment! Now one of these days, I would be trying to lather some vinegar to my haor to make it ultra shinier.

What about you? Are you happy with your current shampoo and conditioner?

I had big expectation for the Human Nature shampoo...but I developed dandruffs from using that. Natural does not always suit all of us, I guess. What I do with shampoos is that I dilute them...1 part water, 1 part shampoo...that way it is less concentrated. I couldn't go without shampoo because of all these dust particles in the work area.
